Life is NOT a Dress Rehearsal

I see so many unhappy people in this world. They hate their jobs, they don't like their neighbors, they detest their boss, they don't like their own appearance, they're too fat, they're too unfit and they are envious of movie stars. Why? Why are so many people like this?

People are dissatisfied with their station in life because they see other people getting and doing the things that they want while they sit and stagnate.

If you suggest to them that maybe they could try something different, out come those immortal words: "Nah! That'd never work!" If you suggest that maybe they could increase or improve the quality of their output, out come those fateful words: "Nah. Can't be bothered!" To suggest that they might like to read a book instead of sit and watch endless hours of mindless TV they will look at you as if you are quite mad.

Their lives are negative because their thinking is negative. What is your thinking like? Ever questioned it?

Life is NOT a dress rehearsal. This IS the main event. The longer you leave it to make your run at success, the harder it becomes.

Make your life the main event. Get yourself a standing ovation from other achievers for your own success. There is so much opportunity and so little time. Your time is NOW!

Disabling the system beep.

Ok folks. Here is a quick and easy way to disable the system beep on linux machines... Those of you who know what i'm talking about know how annoying it can be. I couldn't even tolerate it for a half day (and I'm a really patient guy).

The following is an excerpt from ArsGeek.

You can disable this by editing a file and entering two simple lines.

gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

And then add:

#silly speaker beep
blacklist pcspkr

Save your file and the speaker beep will be gone when you reboot.

If you don’t want to wait until a reboot, simply type:

sudo rmmod pcspkr

Introducing CRUZER45

Hi Folks... I finally decided that it is about time I created my blog. From time to time I came across stuff that I thought I'd like to share with other people but never took the time to write.

So... Just so you know... This blog is gonna be about lots of stuff but mainly Java programming and Linux experiments.
